Why “cultivate mutualism”? Many fungi in healthy habitats form mycorrhizae–a mutually-beneficial relationship in which plant roots and fungal mycelium fuse, sharing nutrients and information via an underground network. The pine trees and Amanita mushrooms (Amanita muscaria var. guessowii) in this original drawing grow throughout my Pinelands home habitat, spreading their magic through a very specialized relationship. I believe different kinds of people could learn from such relationships, co-creating a healthier and more equitable future for all.
